Wednesday Hammertime
7:15 to 9:15 pm

We are a fun league with an open format which means teams can have curlers of any age and gender. We offer friendly competition games followed by social time in the lounge. Beginners welcome! Wednesdays will be your favorite day of the week!

Our season runs from September to March. We award cash prizes at the end of the season in A, B and C divisions at our annual wind-up event.

Curling begins: September 17, 2025

Register in August. Sign up as a 4 person team, partial team, or individual and we will place you on a team. (Individuals, partial teams: please indicate your ability level, preferred position(s) and/or other notes when registering so we can assign you appropriately.)

SPARES WELCOME
We’re always on the lookout for spares to join our spares list. For more details, please refer to our Sparing page.

League Rules

  • 1
All teams must have 4 registered players before stepping on the ice.
  • 2
Teams with 5 players must record the 5th player’s details with the League Representatives, prior to the start of the season.

    • 5th players count as full members of the team and may play any position.
  • 3
Teams must have at least 3 players to play. A minimum of two regular team members are required to play a game. Spares (max 2 per game) may throw either lead, second or, if the team is very inexperienced, third stones. Spares must be PMCC Members.
  • 4
For regular season games Hammer/choice of colour is determined by a coin flip. In the playoffs the higher positioned team gets the choice of Hammer.
  • 5
If a team is not prepared to start at 7:15pm they have until 7:30pm to start or forfeit the game. A team that is more than 5 minutes late loses both hammer and choice of rocks.
  • 6
The standard rules of curling apply when a player arrives late:

    • A late player may join an end if they have arrived in time to throw their rocks, otherwise they must wait until the next end to participate.
    • When they arrive, they may be inserted into any position in the throwing order.
    • If a player has joined the game late the team may re-arrange their throwing order at the beginning of the next end.
  • 7
If a game cannot be played at the scheduled time, teams are encouraged to reschedule the missed game during Port Moody Curling Club practice time.

    • If for ANY reason a makeup game cannot or is not played, then the team that was not able to play at the original scheduled time forfeits the game. The team that was able to play the game as scheduled receives a win.
    • So that the next round robin or the playoffs can be scheduled makeup games must be completed before the last game of the current round robin.
    • The Grand aggregate winner will be determined on the final night of regular season play and before the start of the playoffs. For that reason, all makeup games must occur before the end of the regular season and before the playoffs.
    • If neither team was able to attend the scheduled game and no makeup game was played during the round robin both teams must report a loss.
  • 8
Games must be completed by 9:15 PM.
Guidelines for 3rds: Under no circumstances should you start an end after 9:05 PM.
  • 9

League games may end in a tie. Playoff games will have a tie breaking mechanism announced before the game.

  • 10

Results of games are to be reported on the score sheet in the lounge. Teams receive 2 pts for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss. Every effort will be made by the league to get the results of every game recorded on the club’s website. In the unlikely event that the teams did not, cannot or will not report the result of a game before the end of a round robin and before the new schedule must be drawn up, then both teams will receive a loss.

  • 11

Ties in the standings will be broken by head-to-head records of the teams involved. If a tie still exists a tie breaking method, to be chosen by the league executive, (coin flip/draw to button) will be utilized.

  • 12

Per CurlBC recommendations: the “5 Rock FGZ rule” is in effect. The “No Tick rule” is NOT in effect.

  • 13

Have fun and please be respectful to everyone!
