Tuesday Takeouts

Welcome to Tuesday Takeouts Mixed League

Look. If Covid showed us one thing, it’s that staying at home all the time sucks. Online community is not real community. It’s time to get out there again and live your life, have some fun, make new friends, and engage in some friendly competition.

Welcome to curling.

Curling is a great sport for beginners. It’s not like golf where you need to spend hours at the driving range to perfect your swing. It’s not like hockey where your equipment sets you back $$$ before you even step on the ice. At curling, you can show up and we’ll provide you with all the equipment you need, and no one will make fun of you if you fall flat on your face when you deliver your rock (well ok, maybe we’ll chuckle a little).

Tuesday Takeouts is a great league. We curl from September to March, and we have a wide variety of skill levels, from brand new beginners to players with years of experience. We find a balance between good competition and having fun. Don’t have a team? Perfect! We’re the only mixed league at Port Moody that doesn’t accept pre-set teams — all teams are set at the beginning of the season by our executive, to maintain a competitive balance and to allow everyone to mix and get to know other curlers. Tuesday Takeouts is great for single curlers or couples who want to meet new people.

Ok, so what if you’re an experienced curler? “Are you guys all just a bunch of hacks?” I hear you ask. Of course not! If you’ve got experience then ours is a great league to push your skills at skip or third. We’re a teaching league where our experienced curlers pass on their knowledge and expertise to our new players. Tuesday Takeouts is the place to learn and develop your strategic understanding of the game.

And hey, if you flashed all your takeouts and hogged your rock three times, come upstairs afterwards and drown your sorrows at our lounge. Let’s face it, the real reason we’re here is to socialize and have fun. We do a Mad Hatter competition at Halloween, a Turkey Shoot and Christmas potluck in December, and a legendary wrap-up party when the season is over, with lots of food, prizes, and more competitions.

2022-23 Season

We are full and ready to start our new season! First week of curling is on Tuesday September 20, at 7pm.
